Splinter-Free Drilling of Thin Wood Sheets (0.5–3 mm Deck Planks, Hull Planking, Decorative Wood Veneers)
When drilling thin deck and hull planking, a flat scrap-wood backing board must be placed firmly against the back side; apply light pressure and slow rotation throughout, and clear chips regularly. Significantly reduce feed force as the bit is about to break through, which can effectively prevent wood grain tearing and splintering at the exit.
